massage drunk

I have the best visiting teacher ever!
When she found out I was stressed with finals, she asked if there was anything she could do.
In my head I'm thinking that while I love treats and junk food, I was dying for something a little more relaxing.

Then I remembered that my visiting teacher is a massage therapist.
Think, think, think.
I couldn't resist...
I asked her {in the nicest way possible} if I could get a massage when all was said and done with finals.
And because she is so wonderful, she readily agreed!

Thursday was my last final! {huzzah!}
Just before 8:00, I rode my bike quickly to her house, where she pleasantly greeted me.
Then, for an hour or so, I received my first, official massage.
It was uh-mazing!
The atmosphere was perfectly lit, calm music played in the background the whole time, and my visiting teacher is pro.

When it came time to leave the room, the weirdest sensations came over me.
My visiting teacher handed me a bottle of water and had me sit down on her couch.
She looked across at me and asked how I felt.
Then, with the cheesiest grin on my face, I responded, "good."
"Why am I smiling like a doofus?" I thought to myself. I tried to act more natural.
My visiting teacher then expressed that she was worried for me to ride my bike home.
I didn't understand. Why was she worried? I can ride my bike just fine!
She then explained that I needed more time to "come back down to earth" because I was most likely experiencing what she likes to call "massage drunk."
I was so excited to hear this that I blurted, "Is this what getting high feels like!?"
{confession: I have secretly wanted to know what being high feels like}

My v.t. smiled and further explained that most people are constantly in "flight or fight" mode. Getting a massage is a healthy way of temporarily relieving ourselves from this mode. The drunk feeling is also due to the releasing of toxins and from stimulating the nervous system which releases endorphins. I had no idea getting a massage could make a person feel so elated and tipsy all at the same time.
{Go to this website to read more.}

After my v.t drove me home, Ammon's brother Nephi was over. The three of us played monopoly. I don't think that game has ever been more "thrilling" than it was that night. Every time I rolled the dice, I just felt really lucky. I was also very talkative during the game; when I'm usually not.

Thursday was a great day. I did well on my last final. I finally got to experience a tiny taste of what getting high feels like. {a healthy version of it} And I also ended up winning Monopoly.

my overdue spring break post

Sorry I was m.i.a for a little bit there. Finals came a wee bit faster than I would have liked and life got a little bit busy. I had a total of 6 finals and now I only have one left! {raise the roof!}

Spring Break was fabulous.
I accomplished all of my goals.
Well... almost all of them.
It was my goal to run 5 days that week and I ended up running 4 days.
It was my goal to spring clean my apartment, but I only mostly cleaned it. (close enough)
It was my goal to finish all of my big projects, but I didn't even start my 12 page paper.
But I did paint my author's chair! (Pictures soon to come) And I did finish Ella Enchanted.
And I hiked the Y {with my brothers}, so I definitely spent time with them.
And I made a spring wreath during general conference. :)

i love you march!

So far, March has been really good to me.
Right now I am a second semester Junior in the elementary program which means 3 weeks in an elementary classroom!
Last semester it was 6th grade, this semester is quite the opposite: kindergarten!
To be honest, I was a little hesitant to be in a kindergarten classroom for 3 whole weeks because just one day spent substitute teaching them would leave me exhausted. However, after spending just one week with those adorable, pinchable cheeks, I am realizing that I could see myself teaching the little tikes just as much as the older ones.  Needless to say, I am looking forward to the next 2 weeks. {It also helps that I'm best friends with my field partner, Brianna!} :)

Aside from school, March has also been good to me for a few reasons:

Reason number 1. Partying it up in Springville for St. Patrick's Day

Reason number 2. Warm enough weather to try out our new slackline!

The newly married couple!!  Oh Mark...

Reason number three. Mark & Rachelle's wedding:
Spending all day with Allissa was the best. We were bridesmaids together. :)

I love Rachelle so much! And this picture...

It was pretty cold outside

Groomsman and bridesmaid together. :)
Reason number 4. Eating healthier and running again.
Celery & peanut butter, salad, potatoes and chicken, chicken tacos, and a wholesome breakfast
Yay March! I love you!

faith cancels and extends assignments

On Sunday I signed up to feed the missionaries today.
Logically speaking I shouldn't have because I am up to my ears in procrastinated homework and projects.
But I had faith it would work out.
Here's just a little bit of how Heavenly Father gave me more time:

my 7 a.m. math test was changed to a take home test
the State Ethics exam website was having issues and now i don't need to take it
the second portion of my math test was extended to Thursday
and of course it helps that my incredibly wonderful hubby did all the grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning for the missionaries.

i have faith in God.
i attribute my cancelled and extended assignments to Him
and for reminding me why i fell in love with Ammon.

Field with the 6th Graders

Oh hey. Just dropping by real quick to show you a little bit of what I've been up to.
Currently I am doing field work for my program.
That means 50+ hours in an elementary school teaching lesson plans!

Here is the digital story that my field partners and I made: (we're pretty proud of it.)

The kids loved it! And our coordinating teacher wants to use it too!

And here's what I'm teaching tomorrow:
Mesopotamia

I'm pretty excited. We're going to review the basics and then write our names using cuneiform in clay tablets!

wake me up when mid-december ends

Um, hi.

One moment while I bang my head on the keyboard.

Whew! Okay, that helped a little. Feel free to try it...

Well. School is officially causing me high anxiety.
I don't think I was exactly prepared for what's coming.
I suffer from "if I can't see a list of everything I need to do, then I freak out" syndrome.
I tried making my own list. And soon gave up.
So, I'm kinda freaking out and my heart-rate has increased to a light-jog even when I'm sleeping.

Okay, it's not that bad. But these next few months are going to be busy, busy, busy. So, if I don't post on here too often you'll know why.

{can someone please fast forward time and make it Christmas?}

first day of school

Today was my first day of school!
I officially started the Elementary Education program at UVU.

This day did not come as easily as I had hoped.
Transferring from BYU-Idaho to UVU was no simple task.
(I must have really liked Ammon or something...) :)
After pre-tests, and documents, and $$$$, and taking classes I already took in Idaho, and patience, and meetings, and interviews, and taking tests outside of school, and traveling, and fingerprinting, and some more $$$$...

I am finally in the program!
And to be honest, I wasn't too excited to start. {at first.} I have been told there is a lot of group work {which I loath.} and lots of projects and that I'll never have time for my husband, etc. etc.
I just want to be a teacher already.
But all it took was my first day of school and some pondering to decide I'm going to like it and I need it. I still have so much to learn and I want to be the best teacher I can be.

So that's what I decided today:
I am going to really enjoy the next 2 years of my life and learn as much as I can.
And that's that.

So ask me if I'm excited to go through the elementary education program and I'll have a resounding answer: YES! It's all about attitude and I'm going to make it a goal to keep mine optimistic at all times. (It also helped that my teachers so far are very knowledgeable and inspiring)

Well, I gotta get ready for work, but I thought I'd hurry and write my new found thoughts on school. Here's me and Ammon on the bus:
