sunday drive

For the first time in forever, Ammon and I went on a Sunday drive. Just the two of us! We drove up Provo Canyon, had ourselves a little picnic, read a conference talk together, and then practiced our modeling skills. I think they turned out pretty good!

no junk november

I am starting this new thing called No Junk November. I made it up myself.
I thought of it because I ate horribly during all of October. And then I just felt really yucky when Halloween came around. I don't want the same thing to happen when Thanksgiving rolls around.
No junk November is different for everyone but the main rule is to set some goals for yourself that you follow during November up until Thanksgiving.

My rules are this:
No desserts (candy, cookies, brownies, etc.)
No pizza (unless it's homemade)
No chips unless it's tortilla with a meal
No fast food unless I get a salad
No soda
No popcorn
No cereal that is more than 9 grams of sugar per serving
No white bread when making sandwiches
No red meat
No chocolate

A couple of my classmates are doing it with me. They have each made their own list of goals. If any of us breaks one of our rules, then we owe the other two people a dollar. We are doing it per day.

I have always struggled with balancing the amount of sugar I consume. Every time I go to Maceys, I grab smarties. Every time I go anywhere that offers free candy, I grab it and eat it. Any time there are free samples, I'm all up on that. Anytime I go to a party and someone offers free treats, I don't hesitate for even a second. Writing this blog post and involving my classmates will hopefully be the key I need in order to reach my goal. I made it a point to hold myself accountable and to tell as many people as I know so they can "catch me in the act" if needed. Ammon is doing it with me too.

Feel free to join us and wish me luck!

only the greatest costumes ever

This year's Halloween was the best. It is officially my favorite.
That's saying a lot because one of my Halloweens was celebrated in China.

It was my favorite for a few reasons. First of all, look at our costumes:

Me and Ammon in 50 years!
Second, I am in the elementary program and we know how to party!

Third, I have a best friend and a husband who are willing to take millions of pictures with me:
Brianna and Me

She is from Adventure Time
Best friends :)

This one's my favorite! I'm babbling away, while Ammon's sporting the grumpy old man look

Oh just making some dinner for the grandkids

Another reason I loved this Halloween was because of my co-workers. I had to work that night and some of the guests were really rude which is never fun. But my co-workers kept me happy and their costumes rocked!!

banana and candy corn
Evil minion
hahaha! I love this picture!
Calvin & Hobbes. I love this couple

Mary Poppins flew on in

And she's happy as ever!

My boss was the "gingerbread man" haha. Good one, Scott

Adventure time! I love this couple!

The party was getting way too loud for this old bag. haha

Our friends Lauren and Ammon Kenner

There was a costume contest and we won first place!! Los Hermanos baby! (We already cashed it in today.)

Driving home

We were beat after dancing the night away!
Best. Halloween. Ever.
I've even got some footage of Ammon dancing. (he doesn't normally dance in public ever)
It doesn't get much better than that.

slim pickings

This year, Ammon and I went and got pumpkins with Nephi.
We went and got our pumpkins at the very last second, which means there were slim pickings.
We either had to pick pumpkins that were either too lumpy, too big, too small, too squishy, or too abnormal.

I picked one that was too large. Nephi picked one that was too small, and Ammon picked the abnormal one.
But don't worry, we rocked our pumpkins.

Removing Ammon's lid was a difficult task.  We think that's why nobody ever carves white pumpkins.

Proof that I was there. :)

Adding the final touches

My final product!

Ammon's masterpiece. My husband is so talented!

Nephi's final product. If you don't know what he carved, then I'm not so sure that we can be friends. :)
This link should help you.

Pretty much the sweetest pumpkin ever.
